Why And How To Prepare Your Voice
As an awkward 21-year old I felt embarrassed when my college theatre instructor started each class with funny-looking tongue and voice drills.
Our voice matters so much that Stanford offers a weekly “Vocal Yoga” session.
Yet: How often do you prepare your voice before presenting?
This vocal warm-up takes one minute and helps you sound better for the rest of the day:
And hey, why not warm up your voice every day? Your voice, after all, matters in all your interactions.
It’s so quick it can be done in the shower.
A few ideas to remember doing it:
Try a daily calendar reminder
Use your phone background image as a reminder
Keep a “vocal yoga” item on your daily task list
I put a “vocal yoga time :)” sticky note on my bathroom mirror.
