šļø Thereās no classic post from me this week, because Iām taking vacation from this newsletter during July.
š Starting July 29th, youāll also be getting these emails once a monthĀ instead of once a week.
Happy summer, dear fellow learners!
In case youāll be missing my posts, Iāll leave you with a few book recommendations š
Book Recommendations
Books Iāve loved:
Deep Work by Cal Newport. In the knowledge economy the most valuable work requires uninterrupted focus. Newport reminds us of why and how to make it happen.
On Writing Well by William Zinsser. Originally published in 1976, itās still relevant. Few skills are more correlated with your professional success than clear, succint writing.
Acting With PowerĀ by Deborah Gruenfeld. This book provides not only tactical tips for body language, but also new ways to think about what power is and how to think about power in your own life.
Books Iāll be reading:
Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela. What an incredible uphill battle Mandela fought, and how much we can still learn from his journey today.
How to Live by Derek Sivers. I adored Siverās book Hell Yeah or No, and Sivers describes How to Live as the ābest thingā heās ever made. His books consist of short, punchy chapters, each with a thought-provoking message for reflection.
Why Vacation & A New Cadence
First off, because vacation is in itself fun and meaningful. While I could argue for the increased productivity stemming from vacation, that misses the point. How privileged we are to get time with family and friends, to hike mountains and swim in the ocean, and find solitude to read a long-awaited book.

Secondly, Iām switching from a weekly to a monthly publishing cadence to honor my own words aboutĀ starting with goals & prioritizing well. My top professional priority is to decrease Norwegian greenhouse gas emissions, and I want to allocate more time to this priority.
Cheers! Enjoy summer!

PS: Iāll start writing a newsletter about Norwegian climate politics (in Norwegian). Ping me if youāre interested in following along š
